As you can see I’ve already glued the bulkheads and I’ve got the deck planked and just about finished. I just have to trim off some of the excess wood on that one side there. As with my HMS Endeavour’s Longboat I’ll keep my progress updated.![]() ![]() Comments and criticisms are always welcome!

It’s been a while but the basement has drywall put up, primed, and painted and I can finally have a place to continue on my Santa Maria. Since my last post this is what I’ve got done since yesterday.![]() But while I’m waiting for these pieces to dry I have a quick question. In your experience, when working around these openings, is it better to glue a full plank into place and then cut it out? Or am I better off cutting a rough sized hole into the plank and then gluing. I’m guessing the later would be better in the long run?

The nails you see are only there temporary to hold the wood in place as they dry. ![]()

My wife is due to have our first baby on Oct 15 (four days… give or take depending on when she wants to come out). So we’ve been busy. I hope to get back to it sooner rather then later but we’ll see. This will only be my second ship. The first one was AL’s Long Boat which has a log here too. But you’ll be able to find a lot of help if you get stuck or need advice.
