I'm kind of winging it on these a bit and modified the kit boats a little, making a taller transom, etc. I haven't decided on what to do about the oarlocks/thole pins yet. That's about the last step. Well, actually, I still have to make the rudders too. Today, I finished making new oars. I know these technically should have at least 8 oars each, but the plans just call for 4 oars in each boat. I suppose that more oars will clutter the interiors. With the 4 oars, I may add a water cask and maybe a small boat anchor and line. I don't want to add too much though, as the level of detail then wouldn't match the rest of the model. Here are some updated photos including one of the oars I just finished up. I build a base board for transporting the model which kept it from sliding around or tilting and from bumping into the walls of the SUV he drove just for this occasion. Even so, we barely had enough clearance for the model. Had to tilt the whole thing at an angle to get it through the rear door. But, it made it safely in. I took a few final photos before she went home. ![]() ![]() ![]() The owner was very happy and gave me another project to work on, Artesania Latina's Independence, 1775. It wasn't my first choice of projects and I tried to talk him into something else. But, he seems to have his heart set on it. Not sure yet exactly what I'd use from the kit and what I'd replace. Anyway, that's is a subject for another thread. Plenty of other projects to deal with now! Clare

I managed to acquire another San Felipe kit from another fellow modeler who won't be able to finish it. It was only completed up to part of the first layer of hull planking. So, any time I start to miss working on the San Felipe, I've got it covered. No plans to start on it right away though, I have a bit of a backlog and it's only getting worse. Can I put in an application for additional hours in the day somewhere so I can get some models built??? Clare

I think that it was filed behind mine which is behind several thousand. Well you got to practice on the last one now you have one of your own to do. Enjoy. Later 42rocker
