We have completed building and flaring frames #09 to #16 These we have dry fitted to the ships keel. We have glued up frame # 17 and cut out frame # 18, golly but we sure do have a long way to go. I have heard there is quite a bit of laser char to sand off the frame parts on this kit. Is that true and how tedious a task is this is. Hello Mike, The char is really not all that bad and very accurate that is for sure. I find it hard to get my utility box cutter a Olfal cutter blade in the char cut to remove the frames from the plank of Pear Wood that they are cut from. Have to be real careful here as they could break very easy. Found that my Exacto knife with it's small round handle a little to tedious for these thicker wood cuts. Once glued up the char is not hard to deal with. It is just doing scratch builds for so many years I am no longer used to dealing with char, but now I do not have tons of saw dust and shavings, yes the char is much faster and easier. Regards Lawrence | ||
