A real beauty she is Norman. I obviously invented a comma after 'she is' that wasn't there! ![]()

I have rigged the booms on the main mast, tomorrow I will be rigging the fore mast booms. I also have my ships rat, he has been exploring today. ![]()

I have completed one sail (except for the reefing points) and am well on the way with the second, only a dozen or so to go! ![]() A Question, how were sails attached to the yards? I have found plenty of info on sail making but it does not mention this. Thanks, Norman

I really like the fact that you have part of the original ship built into your model. I like the work on the rigging and overall the model look great. You mention in the beginning that you are going to sail the boat, for a video. Are you still planning on doing that. Did you take any pictures when you floated it to set the amount of ballast? I didn't photograph it in the bath as it was too cramped. Ballast is a problem, if I install it in the hold with sufficient weight to float at a suitable level it might be too lively. So I plan to attach the ballast with an outside keel so that I can adjust the depth to achieve the stability that would give a good appearance without it heeling over so far that the hold floods! Watch this space!

I have asked this twice before but to no avail. Please can someone help me, how would the sails be attached to the booms on a ship in the 1850s? Thanks, Norman
