The pieces are difficult to hold and may need slight adjustment as you assemble them. Best to take every window frame as an entity and LABEL THEM somehow, such as that shown in TYPICAL LAYOUT and dry fit them into the stern frame first. You will notice that I have drawn triangles on each mullion and verticle piece. Disregard this the first time, if you must. It is a cabinet maker's system of identifying parts in furniture. I made my frames from boxwood but pear or any fruit wood will do. CAUTION: I used the Preac table saw with a 0.01" thick slitting blade to rip and cross cut the frame parts after rabbeting and dadoing. It's best to raise the blade enough to just clear the work piece and also use a zero clearance plywood on the table surface. For a push stick I used a needle mounted in a dowel and a final warning: Small parts may FLY, so I taped a cardboard cover on the fence which captured "fly-aways". Please be careful! Even a small slitting blade can be nasty. For glazing the windows I bought a small sheet of mica from a hobby jewelry supply store (rockhounds, they are known as). You will have to separate the top layer of mica, and glue the frame onto the mica, then slice off the waste after drying. ![]() Frames installed. ![]() [ Edited Sun Sep 22 2019, 02:29pm ] | ||
