The plastic flags and staff looked out of proportion and much too thick to use. I removed the plastic flags from their staffs and then sanded to thin down the staffs to look more in scale. Thanks to a video I found on youtube, I was able to finish mounting my flags today. After cutting out flag images, I glued a slightly smaller piece of tinfoil to the inside half of the flag. I then white glue mix over remaining half and inserted my line before folding flag in half. While still damp, I was able to bend the flags to create the movement of wind blowing thru flags.NOTE: dimensions to Jack flag is 0.5"x0.625"-not 0.64" as written.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [ Edited Thu Feb 28 2019, 04:15am ]

I' trying to figure out how to go about recreating the hoop-type wires for the very top of ship. Here's a picture of completed ship. ![]() Here is a picture of the overhead wiring seen on the Nantucket. ![]() [ Edited Tue Mar 05 2019, 04:34am ]

I hope this will post due to what I think is a picture format size. This is my 3rd attempt at posting so here goes. After adhering my ship to it's base, I proceeded to pour in three layers of plaster of Paris, letting each layer dry before moving on. After all was completely dry, I used a mixture of black and dark blue acrylic paint to give me my base coat. I then used a plastic party knife to apply Vallejo Atlantic Blue Gel to create the swells and chop of the sea. I let it dry for two days and then filled in some detail painting using a light green, light and medium blue and white acrylics to finish off the whitecaps and swells. My final step was to use two layers of Liquitex Gloss varnish to give the water a glossy look. For my 1st attempt with using LED lighting and creating a water effect for a base, I'm very happy with how things turned out. In closing, I would like to thank all of the people who have followed along on this build and for providing me with some helpful pointers, tips and suggestions to help me reach an end. Thank you and on to something different! ![]() ![]() ![]() [ Edited Tue Mar 19 2019, 02:21am ]
