Manning, who served aboard 3 U.S. submarines during his service in the Navy. He purchased this model but, unfortunately passed away before getting a chance to build her. I tried to duplicate the painting from old photos that I found. Build time took about 1 year with some breaks in between. I hope I did her justice. This was my 1st model build since junior high. All of the subs that Tom served aboard were Balao-class subs, but I used the decals numbers of the USS Crevalle, SS 291, which was one of his 'boats' that he was on. I new nothing of PE parts, but I did use CMK figures on the sail. Halfway through the build, I wanted the ship to look like she'd been at sea. My 1st attempt at weathering.
