So it could probably have been done in less time if I knew then what I know now ![]() I can try to be more observant now, but knowing me I will get lost in the work and forget it again. I also tend to hop between projects working on 2 major builds at a time. So that I have a break and can let challenges "simmer in my head" for a while. The final sketch of the rendering didn't take much time. Once I printed the rendering it takes me maybe 5-10 minutes to sketch over it, as I know where I want the details. The last build was maybe 30-60 minutes, printing, cutting, gluing and then sketching over. That's the best I can do for now ![]() Chris

I wanted to have more mini space on that part when the cabin is built and it took some iterations until I settled for what I think looks good. So here is an update showing the full scale (for 30mm figures) prototype at various stages. First I built the hull and put the formers in. Then I added the deck and did some texture sketching, to show me what it will look like. And finally I cut open some gun ports and tested if the cannons would fit. Spoiler alert ... they don't. So I have to raise the sides by apx 5mm. But actually this is a good thing, because when putting some minis on deck I see that because of the mini base (which is also about 5mm) the figures look taller than designed for. So in the end it all works out ![]() I have been thinking about time spent. I am guessing the time is 50% design, 40% test builds and 10% final build. Happy building, Chris ![]() ![]() ![]()

Only thing missing is the "holder" of the jib mast. The ship can be configured with or without the cabin, so it can act as different ships if needed for gaming. Very happy now the cannons really fit the railing ![]() Chris ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() Registered Member #5214 Joined: Wed Apr 11 2018, 08:19amPosts: 95 | Now it is starting to get interesting ![]() I have completed the texturing of the hull and deck structures. I imagine for a display model I will add all the deck structures to the build. If I go for gaming I would go a littler lighter on the deck so I have more room to move the minis. Even the empty ship looks interesting if you don't want to go with the cabin (it's all removeable). So you have a couple of options to go with. This is not the final version. I found a couple of geometry and texturing problems that I have fixed already. But it will only show in the next build ![]() For now I can start working on the mast and sails to complete the model. And then I will add the weathering effects layers so it will look more used and aged. Chris ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
