As we all know old man winter is blowing around the corner and to me its ship building time. I would like to share my Started build on my 1958 Sterling U.S.S. KEARSARGE Sloop of war. Unlike that of the old Revell kit this made from wood. As of now I am picking up after I left off.It wont take me to long to finish this so i got to get this one done its a pitty for it lay around so i couldn,t find a better place to build it hthen here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

![]() ![]() Registered Member #1797 Joined: Sun Sep 25 2011, 09:09pmPosts: 69 | Ahoy After a good fall cleaning the work resumes on my Kearsarge. Over viewing the model to see where I left off at isn,t hard A little more sanding here and there along with touch up painting. As continued I started on the channels cutting them and sanding them down gave them a coat of gray primer let dry and paint same black. when dry I installed the cjannels with 15 minute epoxie..Next is the Aft Deck gun gun cleaned it up from excess flash primed it with primmer let dry and painted it balck when the primer is dry. I added the 4 recoil blocks on the delgium guns base. and rigged same. I installed the trunion rails for the deck travel. forming the ho rail with A paint can I had handy that matchs the circumferance of the trunion rail. when done I installed same. The anchors were cleaned off dipped in acetone let dry I primed woth red oxide primer I ran out of gray scince they are painted blank no base coat needed. I cleaned up and primed the 8 boat davits and painted same black. When the paint had dried to touch they were installed in to position. Went back and finished up the bow stantions and painted them black and did some more touch up here and there.
