So if anyone clicks the search link I would think it counts as a view or does google count it as a view by just finding and listing it? The reason I began checking this out was when I realized I got 5,155 views but only 160 total for all 4 videos views at You Tube from the video links in the build log. Creating videos for the build log take time and effort and really slows down the building process. So if only 160 out of 5,000 bother to view the clips then it is not worth the time and effort to make them. But if search engines are messing with views in the forums then it is another story. Reminds me of having to type in a code on sites to make sure you are a real person, a cyber robot would not view a video link. For example, in Google (or any other search engine for that matter) when you make a search, the results of that search display on your screen. If there is a link to your particular page on that results page then it would be considered a "view" regardless if someone clicked on the link or not. To complicate things even further, you don't know what the user was actually searching for when your link appeared in the results page. That being said, having over a 2% click through ratio is a respectable number over all if you are not actively marketing a given webpage. I don't rely to heavy on the site statistics that are on the Forum on the site as I know they have had problems with this module over the years in that it does not always report what it should be. About the only number you can really rely on are the total number of posts and replies. I tend to use the server stats for more accurate numbers and only use the site statistics as a loose guideline.

And, to your point => I was disappointed to see that it has had only 47 views on utube. I for one appreciate your work, as do all those on this site, and I understand your desire to maximize value in what you do. Thanks, G

That got me wondering exactly what a "view" is and really the video idea seems to be a fail considering the same 2 site have a total of 20,295 members and almost no one views the videos. the value is time and time might be put to better use in drawing, 3D printing and designing stuff rather than videos

The only people who are most likely to watch any videos are those who are interested in or in the process of building the GH. While construction methods can be similar in all POF models, I don't think todays typical model builder looks at it that way, especially beginner to novice builders. Today they want something that is completely specific to the build they have. So, to get them viewed a lot they have to be marketed (I use that term loosely) on a regular basis to an interested audience. Its not unlike attracting website visitors. I can easily attract a million visitors a day to the site. But that is no good if only 1/100th of 1% are people interested in model building. You have to create the product/video series first then market it to an appropriate audience. Simply throwing it on a website will more often than not have little results unless there is a big call for that item/service.

However, I do actively follow your building logs and watch your videos since I always learn something that I can use on my Eagle build. I appreciate the work involved and Winston is right, there are a small number of us, but you help us tremendously.

It really can be a rocket science at times. ![]()
