The nuts, screws and bolts are purchased for the most part, from an online store, Microtec, I think. A number of the longer fixtures were threaded rods, adapted by adding heads and threading with small dies. The brads on the limber are too large but give an indication... they are purchased.. ordinary hardware store. I think I mentioned that whatever scale there is, is approximately 1":1'. Aside from turning the barrel on a small EMCO (unimat) jeweler's lathe and making the small brass parts, it was easy. current project: the Jefferson Davis from scratch. I say scratch... I do have the plans and the instruction book. The book is not very helpful in lofting and construction of the frames. The directions there simply say to trace the outlines of the frames from the body plan... UGH! I have learned that putting my models on the Mantle piece in the living room gets my children's attention.... fine with me... I love it when they like something I have done... and they are welcome to it... after all, I'm almost 80 years old and I'm thrilled that some part of me lives on in my children. Thanks for all the kind words folks. Hope the photos are OK.... ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||
