![]() ![]() Registered Member #4329 Joined: Thu Dec 12 2013, 06:21pmPosts: 382 | Hey Bill, The lantern was actually done with extremely thin basswood. I first made 4 individual frames. Once happy with them, I cut 4 strips of thin wire and used CA glue to attach them vertically on either side of two frames. Once complete, I added the other two frames to it. I then proceded to add the top and bottom of the lantern to give it more strength. Once completed, I used a dowel to make the vent area on top. The vent holes are just simulated in place to give the illusion that there are holes. The wiring on the frames that divide the individual glass panes is thread. I then drilled a small hole on the bottom of the lantern to incorporate the candle. Once everything was done, I painted the lantern antique bronze. I recommend that you stay the course and build it via the dimensions from your plans. If I was able to do something that small with these mitts, I am sure anyone can too. I hope this helps. Ray | ||
