Use No. 10 black thread for the jib stay, which is doubled with a strop of each end, and leads through a hole in the bee and finally secures to a shackle on the cutwater. Use No. 20 black thread for the flying jib stay, which leads from the bale on the mast foremast cap, down through a hole in the jibboom, through an upper hook on the martingale, and finally to the hull. Use No. 30 black thread for the outer jib stay, which leads from the topmast through a hole in the jibboom, through the upper hook on the martingale, and finally to the hull. Use No. 30 black thread for the jib topmast stay, starting at the topmast, then leading through a hole in the jibboom, through a lower hook on the martingale, and finally to the hull. Use No. 40 black thread for the fore topgallant stay, starting at the topmast, then leading through a hole in the jibboom, through a lower hook on the martingale, and finally to the hull. MORE RIGGING ON THE BOWSPRIT The best diagram for the remaining rigging on the bowsprit can be found on p. 115. Use appropriate size chain all martingale stays. ![]() ![]() ![]()

All I have left to build is a lifeboat for the stern. I've also been working on another modeling project for a client, but it is unrelated to shipbuilding -- an Overland Stagecoach -- so I've been keeping busy. Gene

All of the details for rigging and sail-making are found in Greenhill's book; however, I can provide further commentary, if necessary. Gene ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Mike, The 4' by 7' pool table shows you the comparative size of the Bertha Downs, which is over 5' long. The table also represents my other passion: 9-ball. Gary, Next is a 10-gun sloop. I've already built the 100-gun Royal Albert. Arthur, The fellow who bought the model said the same thing. Gene
