LOL. It will be interesting to see how we go about it. Here’s to the Eagle, Buddy. Cheers!!!

I am trying to resist the tempatation to start constructing frames until I finish the Rattlesnake rigging. But knowing myself, that will not likely happen... The other factor is that I want this to be a 100% scratch project, which to me means cutting my own wood from billets. To do that, I will need a Byrnes saw and of course, will need to convince my wife that this is a necessity for our family. G

So far, all my builds have been scratch builds and there is a level of satisfaction of being able to do something like that. Take for instance IKEA furniture, they give you a kit and you slap it together, versus drawing your own furniture plans and building it to your needs. It's a great feeling.

It's been pretty busy at work lately and my mitts are to big for the delicate work involved in rigging the sails. I've managed to put up the main stays and my first sail. It was tedious work on the sail's blocks, sister blocks, and euphroes but well worth the effort. I've managed to position my sail to look as if the wind is filling her. I am digging the way she is starting to look. The following photos will show you how she's coming along.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [ Edited Thu Feb 06 2014, 05:19am ]

Brian Platt's description and detail leave little room to the imagination. This is the web site should anyone need the information; http://www.thecheappages.com/junk/platt/platt_chinese_sail.html The only thing I had to do was establish the correct scale so as not to detract from the model.

Winston, I figured that MSB is a site that everyone involved can help each other out be it experience or important information that can come in handy. I've managed to place another sail on her, made her a new display base, and constructed the port & starboard leeboards. It is just a matter of getting a few more items done on her and I could say that this baby is just about done. Here are a few photos of the latest update. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
