I recently came across this web site and have been in awe of all the professional craftsmanship I've seen on all of the forums. From the onset, I'd like to thank everyone whose posted a forum documenting their builds. In the past I've constructed POB models but have always wanted to try my hand on POF from scratch. I've decided to work on the Batteau because I felt that the free downloadable plans were pretty straight forward and left little room for any doubts. I realize that the scale for the Batteau is 1:24 but decided to try it at a scale of 1:12. I am currently ripping down timber out of a 2x2 pine that was laying around and am pretty excited at what I have so far. Any and all advice is more than welcome. I hope to be able to see more work done by you all. Happy Sailing.![]() ![]()

I, too, love large-scale models, but I need a new house for that. I've built several models from pine planks and 2x4s. Many people don't like pine, but I think it looks great in models. Gene

Gene, I must admit that using pine for this project is a little more difficult but I like the added stregnth it provides. Don Farr, I've seen Teleman's Batteau and I whole-heartedly agree with you as it is a fine specimen. I will add more photos of my progress just as soon as I can.
