It's a full ship rig. I've done a couple of these before for friends. The trick is to save as much as possible and duplicate the original builders style. Tom

The only serious repair is to the main. It's in 3 pieces and lacks a top and mast cap. Other wise the rest of it is in pretty good shape. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Look at this photo:![]() On the poop deck, just forward of the steering station is a round rough place where there is no decking. Something was there that was removed. Any ideas? Also, in this photo: ![]() The fitting on top of the cabin, forward; do you think there could have been a boat stored up there?

One clipper built in the 1850s, Queen of the Seas, had an octagonal skylight just forward of the steering wheel, but most were rectangular or square. Yes, there was probably a lifeboar atop the cabin. Most clippers had at least two to four lifeboats; some had even more. I see the stern only displays her name, with no reference to her port of origin. I can find no clipper named Amanda on any list of clippers. So all you know is her name?? Gene

The question is do I just let that be and explain that it's part of the antique allure of the model, or do I repaint everything to clean it all up? Further complicating the issue is the owner's desire to have me paint out the white paint on the cabin tops and fore deck and quarter deck to something more like light gray. Well, if you start down that path, where do you stop? Tom
