I Started planking my Constructo model Victory and I am going off of the directions supplied. I have read several different planking books and techniques but since this is my first time I decided to stick with the Constructo directions before taking on more advanced methods. I have not however found something that addressees this curve that I am getting about 3/4 way to the bow. Before I go any further I was wondering if this curve is normal? The bow and the stern seem to look like the photos in the directions but this curve is throwing me of. Any help would be most appreciated. I have also enclosed a photo of the "Killer Kracken" that I am sculpting to hold my ship when its done... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It's a little hard to tell from the picture supplied just what is the nature of the problem. Perhaps it would be more obvious if you took a picture from the bow looking aft along the side? Tom

That means that the only way you can plank it using full length tapered planks is if you taper them to a point. You shouldn't really taper planks to less than half their width and it looks as though you've followed that rule. However, that's pushed the plank ends progressively further and further down at the bow. What you should have done (and can still do to remedy matters) is stop some planks short, probably at about the middle of your curve. I should think the links Mario has sent you will explain the technique.
Take a plank and lay it on your hull about half way down and along the line of one of the planks you've already laid. See where it wants to go as it approaches the bow. I'm sure you'll find it turns up more than the ones you've fitted. If you draw a pencil line along it, that's how your second planking should run. You can repeat this at different heights down the hull. That will give you a fair idea of how to lay the second planking.
There's also a spreadsheet in the resources section that you can try. There's a direct link here.
