My first reaction was Wow is this thing small...half the size of the other kit. I was also greeted by only getting 2 pages of instructions instead of the 9 that i shouldve got, i believe this is all that came with it at the time that this kit was produced, because i definately know that its an older release. To my surprise it also had a wooden keel vise in the box...certainly a bonus! but not ever a part of the kit...so this kit had been someone elses at one point in its life. I bought it at the LHS as new so not sure what happened there. The first thing i did was download and print off both the updated instructions and the Chuck Passaro practicum...very valuable information to say the least...I read all info several times befor beginning the kit, as well as studying the plans...it definately helps to be familliar with things before starting as its easy to miss things if you only read about things as youre doing them. I am amazed at the detail that this kit provides, I can only hope that with some patience and skill development that it turns out to be as beautiful as it can be...thanks for looking in and in advance for help in answering questions...so here goes!

I then simply rasied my block an 1/8" to draw the sister line that gives you the final row of plates to go on....the belt change at the keel was established using the natural line of the hull, i then used a cardboard template placed in line with the keel and drew in the belt lines on the keel section...the coppering started at the keel and then the stern...cutting the plates is tedious work, and the adhesive on my copper is non existant, so the are all individually glued...I started off a little shakey but am getting the hang of it...i made a very simple jig to cut the plates...Chuck suggests cutting the strip lengthwise but this wasnt working for me...this way seems quicker and more accurate...about 1000 more plates to go lol...to break up the monotony i think i will work on the fittings at the same time...not only to keep this log going, but to keep me sane lol![]() ![]() ![]()
